Welcome to St Joseph's Catholic SchoolIt is a pleasure to welcome and introduce parents and students to St Joseph's Catholic School, Oberon. St. Joseph’s is a Co-educational Catholic School founded by the Sisters of St. Joseph in 1912. St. Joseph’s School caters for students from Kindergarten through to Yr.10. As already introduced in the School’s Mission and Vision Statement, St Joseph’s endeavours to provide a holistic education that enables students to grow in a variety of ways – academically, physically, socially, emotionally, as well as spiritually. What sets St. Joseph’s apart is the ability to provide a sense of warmth and belonging where each child is appreciated for the person they are and that they are given every opportunity to express themselves. ‘Inclusiveness’ is our approach to embracing each child in the School, so that they not only feel they are given opportunities but they know they have made a valuable contribution to the St. Joseph’s Story. Our whole school assemblies that commence each week provide us the opportunity not only to pray together but also to celebrate and acknowledge the achievements of our students. It is an important symbolic occasion that unites us as a community as well as nurturing the well-being of our students. St. Joseph’s has a tremendous reputation across the Bathurst Diocese in the fields of literacy and numeracy development. Results in the National Assessment Program and School Certificate have indicated the careful preparation and planning that has taken place over several years. Sporting opportunities at the School are also of a high calibre with students gaining representative honours across a wide variety of sports. Primary students participate in many gala days, while Secondary students enjoy the two day Quinn Cup Carnival between the other Catholic Central Schools across the Bathurst Diocese. Cultural events such as the Infants ,Primary and Secondary Performances, Presentation Days, Graduation Ceremonies, Work Experience Program, SRC Dances and Fundraisers along with a broad excursion and visiting shows program ensures the students are well catered for with opportunities to broaden their vision and experience. The School enjoys a lively and embracing liturgical life that provides our students with the necessary spiritual opportunities to ensure growth with a balanced perspective in life. We are lucky to have our Parish Church, St. Ignatius in the middle of our campus providing us not only with a gathering place but also a centrepiece of our Catholic School identity. Facilities and resources are second to none at St. Joseph’s with the latest in Computers and every classroom linked to the Internet. Student classroom resources and texts are also the latest in publication. Our School Library is an active centre of learning for all our students. We look forward to welcoming new parents and students to St. Joseph’s as well as assuring that each child’s needs and potential is met to the very best of our ability. |
